Visionary talents and marketing skills doubled the membership of The Houston Chapter of the National Black MBAA in two years. Secured a national conference and won the first outright Chapter of the Year award. As the National Conference Chair, Vernita was awarded a Certificate of Recognition by Councilman Ron Green for generating over 15 million dollars in revenue for the city of Houston in a five day period and assisting in coordinating the first Texas Alliance Consortium, manage over 200 volunteers. Planned and negotiated an International Networking and Strategic Symposium while taking a group of 33 travelers to Italy in July 2006. The 12 days were filled with meetings, networking and tours throughout the beautiful Tuscan countryside. Managed project and provided event planning services for The 2007 Community Health HIV Awareness Concert. Provided oversight and coordination of free HIV testing and educational awareness for 7,000+ teenagers and young adults in the Houston area. Negotiated contract for Reliant Arena as venue for free concert. Recipient of Houston Minority Supplier Development Council’s Corporate MBE Executive Business Scholarship, July 2008 and July 2009.
